Sassy is one of the leading educational baby toy brands in the world. Based in the USA as part of Crown Crafts, Inc, Sassy was ready to relaunch into Europe in 2020.

In May 2020, we were asked to do a full European feasibility study on the potential of the European toy market for Sassy and the optimal route to market.

We eventually developed a Direct-to-Retail strategy, which allows companies to trade directly with retailers in the UK and Europe without the need of setting up a local legal trading entity. We researched and appointed the best providers of supply chain services (3PL, transport), fiscal representation (VAT, EORI, Customs), product compliance and authorised representatives and sales/marketing services to support this route to market.

After the project was approved by the Board of Crown Craft, we set-up the full European supply chain infrastructure for Sassy with a 3PL in the Netherlands. We have also assisted with the set-up of the fiscal representation, product compliance and we continue to manage the sales and marketing effort across the UK and EU.

Sassy will be launched in November 2021!

Nextsport is one of the leading companies in the wider Active Wheeled Goods category and is best known for Fuzion, their industry leading brand in the Pro stunt scooter space.

As part of the Fuzion program, Nextsport sponsors a significant group of professional riders globally. Fuzion has over 150,000 followers on Instagram.

Besides Fuzion, Nextsport has 3 other brands: Arcade (stunt scooters, skateboards), CityGlide (adult scooters) and GOMO, which stands for Get Out More Often!. GOMO is aimed at younger kids with balance bikes, tricycles and 3-wheel scooters in the range.

Nextsport was already established in Europe using the Direct-to-Retail route to market. With a 3PL in Rotterdam, Netherlands, all European retailers (including the United Kingdom) are supplied directly from Nextsport without the need for distributors.

Since January 2021, we have assisted Nextsport with their sales effort in the EU and the UK, opening new retailers in the UK, Germany and Scandinavia.

We have also provided support in the area of product compliance and logistics.

Hardenberg&Co was established in 2007 by Julie Ebrey Hardenberg and Marc Hardenberg.

The company quickly developed into one of the leading distributors of baby products in the UK, representing brands like Angelcare, Ameda, Evenflo, Medela, Duux, Apramo and Simple Wishes.

After achieving market leading positions with Angelcare in the baby monitor, bath and nappy disposal category, H&Co became Angelcare’s largest worldwide distributor.

Following this success, Angelcare acquired H&Co in 2016. All third-party brands have since been moved to different distributors and H&Co is now fully focussed on the Angelcare brand.

After the acquisition, Marc became Managing Director of Angelcare Canada, responsible for the business in North America, the International Distributors and the Baby Monitors. He left the business in 2019 to set-up Majuma Ltd.

Through Majuma he has continued to support H&Co (and his wife Julie) in the areas of International Sales, Marketing, IT and Operations.

Angelcare was established in 1999 by Maurice Pinsonnault, a father and entrepreneur who designed the Angelcare Movement Monitor after his daughter was born with a few complications.

The movement monitor detects even the baby’s slightest movements and will sound an alarm after 20 seconds of no movement. This unique baby monitor proposition quickly conquered the world and millions have been sold in over 60 countries worldwide.

Over the years, Angelcare has achieved leading market positions in the nappy disposal and the bath markets with a range of innovative products.

In 2020, Angelcare acquired Playtex in North America, who was their largest customer with the DiaperGenie nappy disposal system.

Utilising the insight, contacts and knowledge of the Majuma team of the baby products market, we have been involved in a few acquisition projects for Angelcare during the first half of 2020.
